The Isles of Scilly’s newest Councillor has said he is very grateful for last week’s election win. Tim Dean beat three other candidates to fill the St Mary's seat vacated by Ted Moulson on May 23rd with 281 votes. 

The Brexit Party won the most votes in the European election on Scilly with 238, but more people voted for pro-Remain parties in total, with the Green Party receiving 212 and the Liberal Democrats 206.

A scheme to collect unwanted toiletries from the islands and donate them to vulnerable women has had a boost from the Isles of Scilly Steamship Group’s Community Fund. The company has offered to transport the items from St Mary’s to Penzance, where they will go to homeless shelters and women’s refuges in Cornwall.
