A former St Mary's resident was due to appear before magistrates on Monday accused of fraud and theft against two islands businesses.

Mary-Jane Allan, 51, failed to attend her April 8th hearing at Truro Magistrates' Court, where she faced three charges relating to her time working for the Scillonian Club and the Isles of Scilly Steamship Group.

The Mermaid Inn on St Mary's has been granted a licence extension until midnight on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. 

The application was heard yesterday by a Licensing Panel consisting of Councillors Avril Mumford, Steve Sims and Panel chairman Dan Marcus.

An environmental group on the Isles of Scilly wish to keep honey bees on St Mary's. 

Transition Scilly has taken management of an additional plot of land close to the Community Orchard at Trenoweth, which they have run since 2008.
