Cornish Councillors voted in favour of spending £3m of public money on the Stadium For Cornwall project this week.

Councillors voted 69-41 in favour of the project, which will now receive £3m in financial support from the Council’s Economic Match Fund.

The group who are behind the project have been in London following the decision from Cornwall Council to meet with Government Ministers to try and secure the remaining £3m needed for the £14.3m project.

The stadium (subject to securing the rest of the money) will provide a permanent home for the Cornish Pirates rugby team as well as Truro City Football Club.

Truro and Penwith College would also use the stadium and it would also be used for a range of community events.

Will was joined on the phone by David Walrond, Principal of Truro and Penwith College and Phil Westren from the Cornish Pirates to get their reaction.
