A new exciting project has just launched in the Isles of Scilly this week.

Isles of Scilly Community Venture aims to share the benefits of a range of projects linked to the Smart Islands programme with islanders and businesses.

One of the main things the project hopes to achieve this year is the launch of a new special electricity tariff for the people of Scilly and this could be announced as early as this Spring.

Isles of Scilly Community Venture will work closely with the Smart Islands Programme which  is being led by the Smart Islands Partnership.

The founder members of the Smart Islands Partnership are the Council of the Isles of Scilly, Duchy of Cornwall, Hitachi Europe Ltd, the Islands' Partnership and Tresco Estate.

Isles of Scilly Community Venture is a project name under the Isles of Scilly Community Enterprise Ltd which is part funded by the Isles of Scilly Voucher Scheme.

The project is receiving funding from the England European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020. The Department for Communities and Local Government (and in London the intermediate body Greater London Authority) is the Managing Authority for European Regional Development Fund. For more information visit https://www.gov.uk/european-growth-funding.

Will was joined in the studio by Jim Wrigley, General Manager of the Isles of Scilly Community Venture to find out more, and Will started off by asking Jim to explain his role, and how he and his family were settling into life on the islands.
