One of the real highlights of the year, and in many respects a bit of a curtain closer for the main season in Scilly gets underway tomorrow.
Newquay Men's Weekend is a very special event to many and now in it's 54th year will see friends from the Gig Clubs of Scilly and Newquay get together once again to race and socialise. The event and friendships between the two clubs is credited by many as the reason Gig rowing is the sport it is today which seems to be going from strength for strength.
The schedule of races (subject to weather) can be seen below:
Sat 23rd Sept - 18:45 Zelda Cup - Nut Rock to St Mary's
Sun 24th Sept - 11:30 St Mary's - St Agnes
Sun 24th Sept - 14:30 Mixed Crews St Agnes - St Mary's
Gig crews are asked be as punctual as possible when it comes to turning up on time so they don't keep the tripper boats and fans waiting. Further details can be found on the St Mary's Gig Club Facebook page.
Will was joined in the studio by Andrew King, Treasurer of the St Mary's Gig Club for a preview of the weekend - listen below. We'll have more on Newquay Men's Weekend with Will for you on Monday's Morning Show.
