Despite a hard faught second half the Cornish Pirates ultimately fell short away from home against Jersey Reds on Friday evening.

Tricky opposition, being way from home and travel disruption to Jersey all ended up factoring in the result. Despite not getting the result they would have wanted the Pirates have a got a lot going for them and lot's of positive points to take away from what was always going to be a difficult start to the season.

The Pirates are working hard this week in preparation to host Rotherham Titans at the Mennaye Field in Penzance this Sunday in the 4th round of the Greene King IPA Championship. Rotherham have also had a difficult start to the season which will really add to this match as both teams look to get win under their belts.

You can read Phil Westren's full match report here and Will was joined on the phone by Cornish Pirates number 10 Laurence May who spoke to Will this week to share his thoughts on last weekend's match and how training is going ahead of Sunday's vital home match against Rotherham.
