Derek Thomas has narrowly won the St Ives seat (which includes the Isles of Scilly) in the general election for the Conservative Party.
In what can only be described as an extraordinary night in British Politics Derek beat Liberal Democrat Candidate Andrew George by just 312 votes. The Constituency was declared at around 7:15 this morning.
The Results in full below:
Derek Thomas - Conservative: 22,120
Andrew George - Liberal Democrat 21,808
Chris Drew - Labour 7298
The votes from the Isles of Scilly were counted on St Mary's and were not transported to the mainland like previous elections. The turnout for the constituency was 75.9%.
