The ÖtillÖ Swimrun Series is set to return to the Isles of Scilly next year and is scheduled to take place on the weekend of the 9th and 10th of June 2018.
The event in Scilly was considered by all involved to be a great success. Mats Skott one of the two Race-Directors from ÖtillÖ spoke to Will on the Morning show and confirmed the event for next year. According to Mats the course will be slightly different next year due to the tides which play a big part in the event.
Mats also told us at Radio Scilly that they are planning on switching the World Series Race and Sprint Race around meaning the Sprint Race will take place on Saturday 9th June 2018 with the World Series Qualifier taking place on Sunday 10th June 2018. These details are preliminary and subject to final confirmation.
Details with regards to registering for next year's event in the Isles of Scilly will be announced in the future but Mats added: "We would like people to be able to sign up as soon as possible but we also have to talk to the Wildlife Trust and other organisations on what the limits are for participants." You will be able to find details as soon as they are available on otilloswimrun.com.
The event which took place in Scilly last weekend expanded this year to and two-day event and included a Sprint Race as well as the World Series Race on the Sunday.
Six teams from Scilly took part including two in the World Series Race. Andrew King and Rob Carrier from Scilly won the men's Sprint Race and came 3rd overall in the sprint while Amelia Mills and Selena Baxter came 2nd in the Women's race.
We'll have some of the best bits from this year's ÖtillÖ Swimrun on this week's Second Chance Sunday Show with Will from 9am this Sunday. You can hear Will's full interview with Mats Skott, Race-Director for ÖtillÖ below.
