The St Mary's Folk Weekend is due to get underway this coming Thursday with the Welcome Session taking place at the Bishop and Wolf.
Due to unforeseen circumstances the Scilly Folk Festival has had to be scaled back this year and has become the St Mary's Folk Weekend. The organisers hope to have a full festival in 2018.
The long weekend celebrating Folk music gets underway with a free welcome session at the Bishop and Wolf from 8:30pm this Thursday.
The Barn Dance returns on Friday evening with Richard Penny, the Barnacles and Scallywag at the Town Hall. There will be a bar and tickets cost £5 for adults and £2:50 for children under 16. Tickets are sold on the door which opens at 7:30pm for a 8pm start.
Dalla will also return to Scilly for the St Mary's Folk Weekend and perform in the Town Hall on Saturday with Pete Gray. The concert is due to start at 8pm with the doors opening at 7:30pm. Tickets cost £10 for adults and £5 for children under 16 and are sold on the door. Again there will be a bar serving refreshments.
The "Shout" a good old Scillonian and Cornish sing along takes place at the Old Town Inn on Sunday from 8pm and is a free to attend event.
The Monday is a free day but there will be musical get-togethers taking place at various places during the day and more than likely a few impromptu ones over the weekend.
The long weekend of music ends with the traditional farewell session in the Mermaid Inn next Tuesday which is also a free event.
