Toby Tobin-Dougan from St Martin's is about to embark on an ambitious project to create a Black and White portrait photographic archive of the residents of the Isles of Scilly.

He also hopes to accompany the portraits with audio stories of the people and capture the essence of Scilly in 2017.

Toby has applied for Arts Council funding to enable this work to happen and has personally invested to get the project of the ground.  He reckons the project will take approximately 12 months and will work Island by Island and hopes to exhibit the work locally, and nationally at the National portrait gallery in London.

Toby will be shooting the project using old fashioned techniques including a darkroom to develop the film and hope collaborate with the Five Islands School.

He also hopes to compile the photos in a book once the project has been completed.

To raise additional funds for this project Toby has started a Crowdfunder campaign where he will be selling prints of and offering photography workshops. This is due to go live on Saturday the 1st of April and you will be able to find it by searching People In Scilly.
