Walk Scilly Weekend is back in just over a month’s time and it’s shaping up to be one of the best ever.
The event takes place from Thursday 13th of October until Monday 17th of October with a jam-packed itinerary over the long weekend. Walk Scilly Weekend comprises of a vast array of walks and outdoor experiences, which showcase Scilly's outstanding natural beauty.
This year’s Walk Scilly Weekend will “incorporate some new, wilder themed walks alongside the old favorites.” Walks will take place across all the main inhabited islands including some of the uninhabited ones too.
The event kicks off with a Walk Scilly ramble starting on Porthcressa and ending up at Juliet's Garden were there will be a welcome to Walk Scilly party and you will able to meet the guides as well other walkers and enjoy refreshments.
There will be host local experts guiding you though the islands giving you some great insights into Scilly’s fascinating history.
New and exciting walks and activities for this year’s event include "A History Of Our Island's Churches" with George Tiedeman who will take you on a tour of some of the churches on St Mary’s and also talk about the off island Churches.
The Weekend’s activities end with a Farwell walk “Ancient St Mary’s” with resident Archeologist, Dr Katharine Sawyer on Modany 17th October from 10am till 1pm.
The full program of events will be unveiled in the next couple of days and tickets will go on sale in the very near future.
