The Isles of Scilly Steamship Group are now inviting applications for up to £3,000 from their Community Fund. The scheme is looking to support not-for profit organisations both here on Scilly and in West Cornwall. The second round of funding is open until the end of August and the successful applicants will receive their donation in early September.
The main aim of the fund is to support local projects and good causes that have a tangible on-going positive impact from a community, social or environmental perspective.
Will was recently joined in the Studio by Terry Ward, Chairman of the Isles of Scilly Steamship Group Community Fund to talk about this round of funding and some of the previous success stories.
Terry described going through the applications as “exciting, as it’s always great to see some of the new projects that come in.”
Recent applicants that were successfully awarded funding include the "Poetry Postie" Sally Crabtree and the Morel family for their cycling challenge, they are currently cycling from John O’Groats to Land’s End to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Project organisers can apply for grants between £500 and £3,000 per project but funding offered by The Isles of Scilly Steamship Group will not exceed 50% of the total project costs.
