The Scilly Sergeant waves farewell

After 5 years on the islands, Sergeant Colin Taylor will be leaving at the end of the week.

Colin has left a long lasting impression with locals and victors alike.

He shot to local, national and even International fame first of all with his presence on Social Media as the author of the Isles of Scilly Police Facebook page which currently has in excess of 58,000 Likes and most recently with his book “The Life of a Scilly Sergeant”.

The Book is a collection of tongue in cheek tales and anecdotes of his experiences here on the islands as the “Scilly Sergeant”. Famous cases involved a fried egg and a case of anchor larceny. The book has gone on to be a bestseller, and received raving reviews.

Despite his new found fame Colin is staying true to his roots as a Policeman and will be moving back to his family home just outside Exeter to take on a new role working in child exploitation as a Detective Sergeant.

He described his new position as a “challenging and meaty role, very different to my role here, but it’s a role I wanted “ and went onto say he was ‘very excited and fired up” about his new job.

On behalf of the team here at Radio Scilly we would like to thank Colin for his work here on the islands and for his contribution over the years to Radio Scilly. We wish him and his family all the very best for their future on the Mainland.
