Harbourmaster Dale Clark joined Will in the studio for this week’s Harbour Report on Thursday.
It’s picking up on the quay even though there are only 10 or 11 vessels in the Harbour.
The Pegasus has been re-launched from Porthloo after her engine had to be sent away and she’s been out for a trial run and everything seems to be good. Since then she’s been out doing a few trips to the off islands.
The Gry Maritha is making regular trips to Scilly and is busy with an increase in freight for the Christmas period. The Seven Sins came over to the islands on Monday as part of the work to demolish the old school, returning some empty skips and taking away some full ones.
Storm-boards have been put in at Porthloo, but this is only a precautionary measure. We’ve got spring tides at the moment and reasonable big swells forecast. The other storm-boards in Hugh Town and around the islands have been put in just as a precaution.
They’re about start some maintenance on the slipway next to the Atlantic as the outfall and drains are in need of some work. The slipway will be out of action for around 12 weeks and they’re looking to start this work at the beginning of January.
They’re busy with their on-going maintenance schedule and there is still a lot going on as we edge ever closure to Christmas and New Year.
