Businesses in Scilly take part in Small Business Saturday

As the festive shopping period gets into full swing a national campaign to help support small business takes place tomorrow and businesses in Scilly are taking part in the initiative.

Small Business Saturday UK is a grassroots, non-commercial campaign, which highlights small business success and encourages consumers to ‘shop local’ and support small businesses in their communities.

With the Christmas period being A key period for small business especially in remote seasonal areas such as Scilly and of the back of global phenomenon’s such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday tomorrow is shaping up to be a fantastic event.

Gok Wan, Presenter, Stylist, and Shopping Guru spoke to Zoe on Thursday Morning about Small Business Saturday and why he is supporting the initiative.

Gok said “I’ve had a wonderful time going to some great small retailers, meeting loads of amazing people and finding some really unique and brilliant products."

Will also spoke to Fiona Robson from Islands Home Hardware about what they’re doing for Small Business Saturday and highlighted the importance of supporting small businesses. They will be donating 10% of their sale to the RSPB.

The day itself takes place on the first Saturday in December each year, but the campaign aims to have a lasting impact on small businesses. In 2016 Small Business Saturday will take place on Saturday, December 3rd.
