“Absolutely Incredible” Support For Helicopter Initiative

Support for the proposal to reinstate a regular scheduled helicopter service between the Isles of Scilly and the Mainland was described by Tom Matthews, Head of Marketing for Tresco Estate as “absolutely incredible.”

Tom joined Will on The Morning Show this week for an update on the proposal since the plans for a new heliport at Jelbert Way, were submitted a few weeks ago. Tom added “we really had no idea of the level of support there was out there for this project."

He went onto to say “I think we’ve very nearly broken Cornwall Council’s website on a few occasions because of the amount of comments coming their way” and added “our planning consultants who are helping us with the planning application say they have never seen a project that has had such incredible support.”

There are currently over 1700 comments on Cornwall Council's website supporting the application.

Since Will spoke to Tom, the consultation period has now been extended to 18th November (a week today) due to Cornwall Council not publicising the application in the local press until last week.

Tom also said further details would be forthcoming with regards to the type of helicopter and operator.
