Building on the success of Walk Scilly Week in April, this year’s Walk Scilly Weekend is going to be another great chance to explore the Isles of Scilly. An extended 5 Day event will give visitors and local residents a chance to really see the island's in a different light.
The weekend will “Incorporate some new, wilder themed walks alongside the old favorites.” Walks will take place across all the main inhabited islands including some of the uninhabited ones too.
New and exciting walks and activities for this year’s event include "A History Of Our Island's Churches" with George Tiedeman who will take you on a tour of some of the churches on St Mary’s and also talk about the off island Churches.
This is a great chance to find out more about Scilly’s fascinating ancient history and discover a different side to Scilly.
Walk Scilly Weekend starts tomorrow (Thursday 13th October) with a ramble on Porthcressa, ending up at Juliet's Garden where there will be a free welcome to Walk Scilly party and you will able to meet the guides as well other walkers and enjoy refreshments. The welcome party is from 4pm.
Will was joined on the The Morning Show by Zoe Parry from Islands Partnership and Radio Scilly earlier on in the week to talk about this year's Walk Scilly Weekend.
